Bentley University save almost 10% on their electricity consumption in less than a year

9th Aug, 2010

A recent report from Forrester Research stated that around 45% of businesses are researching into managing their energy consumption with enterprise resource planning.

One such company is Bentley University, located near Boston, MA.  It is recognised as one of the leading business and technology schools in the USA. Several years ago, the Facilities department deployed Infor EAM Sustainability edition, to automate their maintenance processes, which drastically reduced the manual overhead and time required to process work orders. A unique feature of Infor EAM is that it collects energy consumption figures to spot anomalies in the day to day use of the equipment at the facilities.

In the first 11 months of using the software,  the university has reduced electricity consumption campus-wide by almost 10 percent. That’s more than 2 million kilowatt hours, or the equivalent of turning off all the electricity on the campus for about 30 days!
